Bahawalpur Court Orders Fresh Probe Into Alleged Rape Case

LHC reopens boy’s rape case, orders new investigation – Pakistan

The Bahawalpur Bench of the Lahore High Court has directed the Bahawalpur regional police officer to conduct a fresh investigation into a case involving the alleged rape of a boy in Rahim Yar Khan district. The court’s decision comes after a writ petition was filed by the eight-year-old victim and his uncle.

The victim’s uncle, Sada Hussain, stated that his nephew was raped by two suspects in a sugarcane field on July 26. Despite a delay in registering the case and lack of action by the police, the court has now ordered a new investigation to ensure justice for the victim.

In a related development, Jamaat-i-Islami has announced a sit-in protest against “excessive” electricity bills outside Farid Gate in Bahawalpur. The party’s leader criticized the government for not fulfilling its promises to provide relief to consumers.
