Israel strikes Beirut suburb, Nasrallah fate unsure after massive Friday attack

Israel’s continuous strikes on Beirut for five hours on Saturday, following a Friday attack, marked a significant escalation in the conflict with Hezbollah. The fear of the conflict spiraling out of control heightened as Iran and the US could potentially be drawn in.

The fate of Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s leader, remained uncertain after the heavy strikes. The Israeli official hinted at targeting top Hezbollah commanders, including Nasrallah, but there was no confirmation of his death.

Israel expanded its attacks in Lebanon to new areas, causing casualties and displacing thousands of people. The death toll rose steadily as the conflict intensified.

While the UN called for a ceasefire, Israel affirmed its right to continue the campaign against Hezbollah. Hezbollah retaliated with rocket attacks on Israel, prompting concerns of the conflict spreading further.

The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts are underway to de-escalate the conflict and prevent further casualties.
