Islamabad sells JF-17 jets to Baku in new contract

The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation have co-produced an aircraft, strengthening ties between Pakistan and China amid strained relations with the United States. The collaboration aims to enhance defense cooperation and boost Azerbaijan’s air power capabilities.

Pakistan’s close alliance with Turkey, a supporter of Azerbaijan, further solidifies the partnership. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan in July resulted in agreements to enhance cooperation, especially in defense. As a show of support, Pakistan deployed an air force contingent to participate in a defense exhibition in Baku, showcasing the jointly developed aircraft.

Through these collaborations, Pakistan is expanding its military partnerships and bolstering its allies’ defense capabilities. The aircraft’s development signifies a shift in geopolitical alliances and the growing influence of countries like China and Turkey in the region.
