However, the dark web also attracts criminal elements, prompting criminal investigators to monitor the network for illegal activities. Recent developments have shown that even the seemingly secure Tor network can be breached, raising questions about user safety and privacy.

Despite concerns, experts like Matthias Marx from the Chaos Computer Club believe that the Tor browser remains a reliable tool for secure communication. While whistleblowers and activists may need to take additional precautions, such as using VPNs, Tor continues to be a crucial tool for maintaining online anonymity.
