Israel has dealt a severe blow to Hezbollah by targeting its leader Hassan Nasrallah and several top commanders in a series of air strikes on their stronghold in Beirut. The strikes have caused significant losses to the Iran-backed movement, leading to the demise of key figures within the organization.
Among the slain commanders, Nasrallah stood out as the long-time leader of Hezbollah, enjoying a cult status among his supporters despite living in hiding to avoid assassination. Fuad Shukr, another top commander, played a pivotal role in military operations against Israeli forces and was instrumental in Hezbollah’s formation during Lebanon’s civil war.
Additionally, Ibrahim Aqil, the head of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, and Ibrahim Mohammed Kobeissi, a missiles expert, were also targeted and eliminated in recent strikes. Mohammed Srur, the drone unit chief, was another casualty, highlighting Israel’s strategic targeting of key Hezbollah operatives.
The strikes have not only impacted Hezbollah’s military capabilities but also sent a strong message to the group and its allies about Israel’s resolve to defend its interests and maintain security in the region.
