Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced the state government’s plan to organize ‘Gandhi Nadige’ on October 2, to commemorate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi taking over as the President of the Indian National Congress. The walk will span 1km from Gandhi Bhavan to the Gandhi statue near Vidhana Soudha, with participants taking a cleanliness oath. Similar programs will be held at taluk and district levels, inviting leaders from all parties.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about Gandhi’s philosophy among youth, with special programs scheduled throughout the year. An app has been developed for people to take the cleanliness oath, and over 35,000 individuals have already registered. Participants will receive certificates for their pledge.
Regarding the issue of potholes in Bengaluru, Shivakumar acknowledged efforts to address the problem but stated that not all potholes have been filled yet. He had previously given a 15-day deadline to the city civic body to address the complaints. Stay tuned for updates on the progress.
