A disturbing case of political intimidation unfolded as William Robert Braddock III, a Florida man, was charged by the Justice Department for threatening his political opponent in the 2022 election for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. The indictment revealed he threatened to involve a hit squad to make his opponent disappear, leading to a temporary restraining order against him. Braddock fled the country but was later deported back to the U.S. for his court appearance.
Facing serious charges, Braddock could potentially serve up to five years in prison if convicted for interstate transmission of a true threat. The case is being handled by the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding election processes. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, one of the victims, continues to seek justice in the face of these threats.
