Dozens remain in shelters post-heavy rain in Ishikawa

Devastating rain wreaked havoc on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, leaving many residents stranded in evacuation shelters a week later. Authorities are now making arrangements to relocate these individuals to hotels and other temporary shelters to address health concerns.

The cities of Wajima and Suzu are grappling with water shortages, exacerbating worries about potential disaster-related fatalities due to unsanitary conditions. The death toll from the torrential rain that triggered floods and landslides on September 21 currently stands at 11, as per the Ishikawa Prefectural Government and other sources.
