KARACHI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir recently met with Karachi’s business community, promising a reduction in industrial electricity tariffs, improvements in road infrastructure, and overall economic stability. During the meeting, the COAS highlighted the country’s economic progress in the past year, attributing it to a stabilized exchange rate and reduced inflation.
General Munir also acknowledged the support of friendly nations like China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE in Pakistan’s economic recovery. He praised both federal and provincial governments for their efforts in reviving the economy and reiterated Pakistan’s potential to thrive on the global stage.
Furthermore, the COAS assured traders of efforts to boost foreign investments through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). He also discussed plans to lower industrial power tariffs and improve road infrastructure in Karachi’s industrial areas.
Additionally, General Munir inaugurated the Innovista Indus IT Park during his visit, emphasizing the importance of creating a conducive environment for the IT industry’s growth in Pakistan.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to address bureaucratic red tape hindering industrialists and encourage measures to enhance exports. The COAS reaffirmed the business community’s role in running the economy and pledged protection for their operations.
