China, Brazil unite for ‘Peace Alliance’ to resolve Ukraine conflict.

In a bid to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, China and Brazil, along with other countries from the Global South, are coming together to form a “Friend of Peace” platform. The initiative, discussed between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Brazilian president’s chief adviser Celso Amorim at the 79th UN General Assembly, aims to create conditions for dialogue, humanitarian assistance, and a ceasefire in Ukraine.

The six-point consensus issued by China and Brazil calls for de-escalation, direct talks, increased humanitarian aid, opposition to weapons of mass destruction, protection of nuclear facilities, and stability in global supply chains. The platform seeks to provide a rational and objective voice in resolving the Ukrainian crisis and has garnered support from over 110 countries.

China emphasizes that the platform is not exclusive and welcomes inclusive dialogue for peace. Behind the scenes at the General Assembly, China is seeking support from countries in Latin America, Asia, and Africa to prevent further escalation and work towards a political resolution to the conflict.
