Belagavi District Bifurcation: Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar Pushes for Development

Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar emphasized the need for bifurcating Belagavi district, citing its large size in terms of both geography and population. After the Dasara festival, all 18 MLAs from the district, regardless of their political affiliations, plan to submit letters to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah advocating for this division.

Hebbalkar highlighted the importance of splitting the district into two or three smaller districts to boost development efforts. She mentioned the significance of garnering support from all MLAs to press for bifurcation, leaving the decision of creating two or three new districts to the government.

The Minister also addressed the demand for new districts like Athani and Bailhongal, stating that the division would help in inclusive development by catering to the needs of urban and rural areas alike. Additionally, she mentioned plans to secure 2A reservation for the Lingayat Panchamsali community and meet with Siddaramaiah to address their concerns.

Overall, the move for district bifurcation aims to promote holistic growth and bring about positive change in Belagavi’s landscape.
