Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of upholding the correct security concept during his address at the United Nations Security Council’s high-level meeting on “Leadership for Peace” in New York. Wang stressed the need to adhere to the principles of the UN Charter, respect the sovereignty of all nations, and reject outdated Cold War ideologies and power struggles.

Wang highlighted the significance of international fairness and justice, advocating for equal treatment of all countries regardless of size. He called for the Security Council’s authority to be upheld and denounced unauthorized unilateral sanctions imposed by any nation. Wang also addressed the situation in Palestine, urging for UN membership, a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces to prevent further humanitarian crises.

In terms of global conflicts, Wang emphasized the importance of diplomatic solutions and sustainable development for lasting peace. He reiterated China’s commitment to promoting peace talks in the Ukraine crisis.
