Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar’s family has taken a stand against injustice after filing an FIR against 45 suspects involved in his alleged extrajudicial killing over a blasphemy accusation. Dr. Kunbhar, from Umerkot, was shot by police in a staged encounter in Mirpurkhas. Following his death, a mob tried to take away his body, burning it later on.
An inquiry revealed that the police had orchestrated the encounter, leading to the registration of a case against top officials, including a cleric. Sindh Home Minister emphasized the government’s stance against extrajudicial actions and stressed the importance of upholding justice and the law.
The FIR detailed how Dr. Shahnawaz faced false blasphemy charges and was ultimately killed in a premeditated manner. His family alleged that police officials conspired to cover up the truth, receiving rewards for their involvement in the unlawful act.
