Senate recognizes murder of 6-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi as hate crime

The Senate has taken a stand against hate by recognizing the tragic murder of six-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi as a hate crime due to his Muslim and Palestinian identity. Wadee was brutally stabbed to death in his home in Plainfield, Illinois, while his mother, Hanaan Shahin, survived the attack. The suspect, Joseph Czuba, allegedly shouted, “All Muslims must die” during the horrific incident.

Illinois Congresswoman Delia Ramirez emphasized the importance of this resolution, which comes shortly before the one-year anniversary of Wadee’s death. This resolution sends a powerful message against hate and discrimination, declaring zero tolerance for Islamophobia and all forms of prejudice. It highlights the urgent need to combat hatred in all its forms and promotes unity and acceptance in our communities.
