Petition against UP govt filed at NGT

A petition has been filed against the Uttar Pradesh government before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for the illegal felling of more than 454 trees at Dalmia farms in Mathura. The incident, which occurred on September 18 and 19, has led to the destruction of rare species like neem, peepal, and amla, causing harm to the local ecosystem.

The petition, filed by advocate Narendra Kumar Goswami, highlights the devastating impact of deforestation on wildlife, including snakes, peacocks, and other birds. It calls for an immediate investigation, replantation of double the number of trees, suspension of commercial activities, and heavy penalties for those responsible.

The plea also seeks punitive measures under the M.C Mehta orders for violation of the Taj Trapezium Zone (TTZ) regulations. The next hearing for the case has been scheduled for November 30. This legal action aims to hold accountable individuals, builders, and authorities involved in the unlawful act and enforce environmental guidelines.
