The Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) has positively impacted over nine million Nigerians through its initiative aimed at eradicating poverty and bringing about positive transformation. The National Coordinator, Dr Abdulkarim Obaje, highlighted the success of the program during the fifth Zonal Peer Learning and Experience Sharing Event in Akure.
With state governors requesting additional funding from the World Bank to the tune of $500 million, the program has proven its effectiveness. Moving from state to state on a zonal basis, NG-CARES aims to interact with beneficiaries and gather testimonies of its impact.
World Bank Task Team Leader, Dr Lire Ersado, confirmed the investment of $750 million in the program, with plans for a second phase receiving $500 million. The initiative has helped farmers increase productivity and improve livelihoods across the nation.
Despite the program’s success, stakeholders are urged to deepen collaboration with the World Bank for the sustainability of NG-CARES. With strong government support and continued investment, the program is poised to further uplift communities and drive economic growth in Nigeria.
