Netanyahu: Ceasefire talks with Lebanon to continue

The recent conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, the worst in over 18 years, is part of the regional spillover of the Gaza war. The US and France have proposed a 21-day truce, with ongoing negotiations at a UN meeting in New York.

Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed Israeli teams met to discuss the US ceasefire proposals and appreciated the efforts. Despite some Israeli politicians rejecting the ceasefire, Netanyahu ordered troops to continue fighting in Lebanon.

Blinken stresses importance of ceasefire

Israel’s campaign aims to secure the return home of Israelis who were evacuated near the Lebanese border due to hostilities with Hezbollah. Hezbollah joined the conflict on October 8 in solidarity with Palestinians, linking their ceasefire to an end to Israel’s Gaza offensive.
