Spanish Civil Guard Foils Migrant Entry Attempt in Melilla
On Thursday afternoon, Spanish Civil Guard agents successfully thwarted a group of migrants trying to enter Melilla via boat. The incident unfolded at the border perimeter between Spain and Morocco, with the anti-intrusion device being activated to prevent entry in cooperation with Moroccan forces.
Witnesses reported around twenty migrants sitting near the Southern Dike, with security forces escorting them through a gate in the fence onto the Moroccan side one by one. To ensure order, multiple patrols were deployed, and a security perimeter established, disrupting traffic on the South Dock.
Amidst the interception, videos surfaced on social media showcasing the dramatic pursuit at sea and migrants’ desperate jump into the water. This incident, occurring shortly after security alerts, underscores the ongoing efforts to monitor and respond to potential entry attempts near Melilla.
