The Japanese government is taking measures to potentially evacuate its citizens in Lebanon as tensions rise between Israel and Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group. A Self-Defense Forces plane is being prepared to be sent to Jordan for this purpose, with additional SDF aircraft on standby in Japan.
Defense Minister Minoru Kihara assured that the government will respond accordingly based on the situation’s development. Plans involve deploying an Air Self-Defense Force C2 aircraft to Jordan for rapid evacuation if necessary.
Currently, about 50 Japanese nationals are in Lebanon, amidst escalating Israeli air strikes targeting Hezbollah positions. The safety and well-being of Japanese citizens in the region remain a top priority for the Japanese government.
As the situation continues to unfold, Japan remains vigilant and prepared to protect its citizens in the event of further conflict escalation in the Middle East.
