Netanyahu’s Likud Party Gains Popularity Amid Israeli Offensive on Lebanon
A recent poll published on Friday revealed that the ongoing Israeli offensive on Lebanon has boosted the popularity of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party. The survey indicates that if elections were held today, Likud would lead with 25 seats in the Knesset, compared to 19 for its main rival, the opposition National Unity party.
With Netanyahu’s opposition bloc projected to win 57 seats and his support bloc garnering 53 seats, the possibility of forming a government remains uncertain. The Prime Minister’s refusal to call for elections amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza adds to the political tension in Israel.
Israel’s continued brutal offensive on Gaza has resulted in over 41,000 Palestinian casualties, with a majority of the victims being women and children. The conflict has also led to mass displacement and a severe famine in northern Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
World leaders have called for an immediate ceasefire to end the suffering of Palestinians and prevent further escalation in the region.
