Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly, numerous explosions were heard in Beirut, Lebanon. Thick smoke filled the southern part of the city as a dozen explosions rocked the Hureyk neighborhood in the Dahieh region.
Reports from the Lebanese news agency NNA indicate that Israeli warplanes targeted Hezbollah’s headquarters in the Dahieh region, resulting in the destruction of several buildings. Ambulances and civil defense teams were dispatched to assist in the aftermath of the airstrikes.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed the attack, stating that the objective was to destroy bunkers used by Hezbollah. Airstrikes have been ongoing since last year, leading to hundreds of casualties and displacements in Lebanon.
Allegations surfaced that Israeli forces targeted Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, although this claim has not been confirmed. The escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has raised concerns about further violence in the region.
As tensions persist, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution to avoid further bloodshed.
