The Federal Government has introduced Project Phoenix, a revolutionary initiative aimed at improving revenue collection in the lottery and gaming industry. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, highlighted in the inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee for the initiative that transparency in revenue collection within the sector is a top priority.
The project, as stated by Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, will focus on strengthening regulation, ensuring compliance, recovering outstanding revenues, and implementing advanced monitoring systems to protect consumers. Key objectives of Project Phoenix include the successful implementation of the Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP), recovery of outstanding revenues, and policy recommendations to further enhance the sector.
Minister Edun stressed the importance of increasing domestic resources for supporting Nigeria’s economy and social programs. Through RAP, the lottery and gaming sector will guarantee transparent revenue collection while shielding consumers from fraudulent activities. He urged committee members to collaborate effectively, assuring them of government support in achieving the project’s objectives.
