Benghazi attacker resentenced to 28 years

Libyan national Ahmed Abu Khatallah has been resentenced to 28 years in prison by a US federal judge for his involvement in the deadly attack on the US Special Mission in Benghazi, Libya in 2012. The attack resulted in the deaths of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, US diplomat Sean Smith, and CIA operatives Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

Khatallah appealed his conviction, leading to a US appeals court affirming the decision but determining that his original sentence was too lenient. The sentence was reversed, and Khatallah was resentenced to 28 years.
