Recently, 34 individuals, including medical students and resident doctors, faced charges after being detained during a protest at Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat. The protest, organized by the National Committee of Residents and Interns, led to charges of unauthorized assembly, disobedience, and failure to comply with authority orders.
Following their release, 25 volunteer lawyers, including Aziz Rouyah, head of the Rabat Bar Association, are providing legal support for the accused. Among those detained were members of the National Committee of Medical, Pharmacy, and Dentistry Students.
The use of force by public authorities during the protest sparked concern among parents of the arrested students, who called for action to secure their release. The National Committee criticized the government for its actions and demanded official apologies for what they deemed as brutal aggression, warning of escalating tensions within the medical community.
This incident highlights the ongoing struggle for student and medical rights in Rabat, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and advocacy in the face of repression.
