2-2.2 M Bulgarians Expected to Vote in Oct 27 Snap Elections

A recent poll conducted in Bulgaria has revealed that between 2 and 2.2 million Bulgarians are prepared to participate in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on October 27. The survey, commissioned by the 24 Chasa daily and carried out by the Trend polling agency, aimed to gauge the electorate’s sentiments as the election campaign gets underway.

Over 1,000 individuals aged 18 and above were surveyed face to face using tablets from September 17 to 24, 2024. The results indicate that seven political parties are poised to secure seats in the Parliament, with two others hovering close to the 4% electoral threshold.

Leading the polls is GERB-UDF with 24.8% support, while the race for the second spot remains tight. Notably, Vazrazhdane has seen a slight uptick in backing since the last elections, claiming 15.6% of decided voters’ support. Close behind are Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (15.1%) and the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (8.5%).

Regarding governance, two-thirds of voters believe parties should collaborate to form a stable government post-election, whereas 19% advocate for a rerun if compromises are deemed excessive.

Interestingly, public perception of key institutions remains unchanged, with Parliament receiving largely negative ratings. Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev’s approval stands at 19%, and President Rumen Radev garners a 38% approval rating.
