Recent heavy rains in Ishikawa Prefecture’s northern Noto Peninsula resulted in devastating floods and landslides, claiming the lives of at least 11 individuals. The region is now facing the challenging task of recovery, with debris and mud posing significant obstacles.
In response to this crisis, volunteers have been mobilizing to provide much-needed assistance to affected residents. In the Takuda district of Wajima city, where temporary housing units were severely impacted by river flooding, volunteers have been working diligently to clear out mud from homes.
One such volunteer is Masaki Uotani, a 55-year-old from Takaoka city in Toyama Prefecture, who heeded the call for help from the local government. Their efforts are a heartening display of solidarity and community spirit during this difficult time.
