Uzbekistan Aims for Upper-Middle-Income Status by 2030
At a public seminar during the AIIB annual meeting, Uzbek Investment Minister Laziz Kudratov shared Uzbekistan’s ambitious goals for the future. By 2030, the country aims to achieve upper-middle-income status, with a significant focus on private sector growth and renewable energy sources. Minister Kudratov highlighted the strong economic fundamentals of Uzbekistan, showcasing a 6.4% GDP growth in the first half of 2024, driven by strategic investments and economic reforms.
With 60% of the population under 30, Uzbekistan boasts a young and educated workforce, ready to lead in future industries. The country’s rich natural resources and strategic geographic location further enhance its potential as a key player in international trade. In recent years, foreign direct investment has surged, reaching $22.4 billion in 2023 and spurring industrial production growth.
