Presidential Office Urges Opposition to Halt Rejection of “Yoon Dislike” Bills

President Yoon Suk-yeol exercised his veto power and sent back bills to the National Assembly, which were ultimately rejected after a re-vote on the 26th. The bills included the “4 Broadcasting Laws,” “Yellow Envelope Law,” and the “Law on Providing 250,000 Won to All Citizens.” The President’s office stated that the bills were unilaterally processed without sufficient consensus, urging the opposition to stop pushing unconstitutional and illegal bills.

President Yoon requested reconsideration of the bills on the 12th and 16th of last month. However, the bills did not gather the required support during the re-vote. The President’s office criticized the opposition for reviving and passing bills without proper discussion. Despite the setback, they emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles.

The President’s office called for a focus on passing bills that benefit the public rather than engaging in political maneuvers. The recent events underscore the ongoing tensions and challenges within the legislative process.
