Senator Irfan Siddiqui Criticizes Superior Judiciary Over Reserved Seats Case
The ruling PML-N launched a scathing attack on the superior judiciary, accusing judges of overstepping their jurisdiction in the reserved seats case. Senator Irfan Siddiqui slammed the judgement, calling it a violation of the Constitution. The verdict, penned by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, allocated reserved seats to the PTI and criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Siddiqui highlighted the implications of the judgement, stating that it nullified key articles of the Constitution. He emphasized the importance of upholding the supremacy of Parliament and urged the PTI to refrain from politicizing national issues. He also discussed the proposed establishment of a constitutional court to address the backlog of cases in the Supreme Court.
The senator criticized the PTI government for launching fake cases against political opponents and engaging in non-parliamentary language. He warned of the dangers of undermining institutions and urged for respect for the rule of law.
