Former President Donald Trump is seeking to have a $454 million civil fraud judgment against him dismissed, with a New York appeals court set to hear arguments on the matter. This legal battle comes alongside Trump’s ongoing presidential campaign.

Aside from the civil fraud case, Trump’s legal team is also attempting to dismiss guilty verdicts in a New York criminal case, a federal election interference case in Washington, DC, and a defamation verdict involving E. Jean Carroll.

The $454 million judgment was issued after Trump, along with his sons and business, were found liable for fraud and false financial statements by state Judge Arthur Engoron. Trump’s attorneys aim to overturn this ruling, arguing that the monetary penalty is unconstitutional and outdated.

While Trump is not expected to attend the hearing, his legal team continues to challenge the judgment, emphasizing that no victims or losses were involved in the case. The New York attorney general’s office, however, maintains that there is substantial evidence of fraud committed by Trump.

Ultimately, the appeals court ruling is unlikely to be decided before the election, and further appeals can be made thereafter.
