Government Announces Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program for Flood-Affected Areas
The Moroccan government has unveiled a comprehensive rehabilitation program to rebuild communities in the southeastern regions devastated by recent torrential rains and flooding. In response to royal directives, approximately MAD 2.5 billion will be allocated to repair damages caused by the natural disaster.
The floods impacted provinces such as Errachidia, Midelt, Tinghir, Zagora, and others, leading to loss of life and property. The government is mobilizing resources to provide immediate assistance and implement the recovery program swiftly.
The rehabilitation efforts will focus on rebuilding homes, repairing infrastructure, and supporting agricultural activities in the affected areas. This includes rehabilitating irrigation systems and providing aid to livestock farmers who suffered losses.
Local authorities are assessing damages, with plans to submit reports to the Ministry of the Interior for compensation. The government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, assured that various departments are working together to provide effective assistance, including potential compensation from the Disaster Insurance Fund.
The Moroccan government remains committed to standing with affected populations and meeting their needs during this challenging time.
