Japan warship sails through Taiwan Strait for first time, reports say.

Japan has made history by sending a Maritime Self-Defense Force vessel through the Taiwan Strait for the first time, a move that is expected to escalate tensions with China. The MSDF destroyer Sazanami sailed through the strait on Wednesday, with warships from Australia and New Zealand also passing through on their way to joint exercises in the South China Sea. This transit comes as a response to China’s military activities near Japan, prompting the government to vow to take all possible measures in light of the “strong sense of crisis.”
