IPCSL urges INEC to enhance election security amidst tension

The International Police Chaplain Sustainable Development and Law Enforcement, Inc. (IPCSL), USA, recently highlighted the need for improved security strategies by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to minimize tension and security concerns during elections. After monitoring the 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, the IPCSL emphasized the importance of these measures in enhancing public awareness and participation in the electoral process.

Amb. Colonel Blessing Akinlosotu, the Africa Director/Commander-in-Chief of IPCSL’s mission to Edo State, urged political actors to resolve disputes through legal means to maintain social peace. The organization recommended a review of electoral laws to strengthen legislative frameworks and called for enhanced voter education efforts by both INEC and political parties.

The IPCSL mission commended the largely peaceful and successful nature of the election while acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian people, security agencies, and stakeholders. The organization stressed the importance of sustaining peace and stability in Nigeria’s political landscape through continued engagement between all parties involved.
