In a recent report by Forbes analyst David Axe, it was revealed that the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is retreating from its positions in Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. The Russian attack on September 25 successfully broke through, putting the city at risk. Vuhledar, once home to 15,000 people, now only has 107 residents who refused to evacuate.
The defense of Vuhledar is reaching its final stages as Ukrainian forces, particularly the 72nd Brigade, have begun retreating to more defensible positions. Russian forces have already occupied neighboring villages, aiming to encircle Vuhledar and destroy it in the process.
