Ukraine Receives Support: Biden Announces Aid Package

US President Joe Biden has announced a series of measures to support Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion. Among these measures is the invitation of 50 Kyiv allies to a meeting in Germany to coordinate aid efforts. The Ukraine Defense Contact Group, consisting of 32 NATO member states and the European Union, will convene in Germany to organize military support for Ukraine.

Biden also revealed a “surge” in security assistance for Ukraine, including nearly $8 billion in military aid and new long-range munitions. The US will provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defense battery and more Patriot missiles to bolster their defense capabilities.

While Biden did not authorize the use of US long-range missiles within Russia, the aid package does include the first shipment of a precision-guided glide bomb called the Joint Standoff Weapon. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing that Ukraine will utilize the aid efficiently and transparently.

As tensions escalate, the international community stands in solidarity with Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty against Russian aggression.
