The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan recently convened a meeting to discuss anti-tuberculosis measures, with key stakeholders in attendance including representatives from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance, and other health institutions. Minister Teymur Musayev highlighted the ongoing healthcare reforms in Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the need for human capital development and digitalization in healthcare.

Significant progress has been made in tuberculosis control in Azerbaijan, with the government procuring drugs and implementing mandatory health insurance financing. The Global Fund since 2005 has supported these efforts, aiming to eradicate tuberculosis by 2030. Construction of specialized medical facilities and modern patient care approaches were also discussed at the meeting.

The Director of the Research Institute of Lung Diseases reported positive changes in tuberculosis morbidity and mortality rates over the past decade. The meeting concluded with plans for further strategies to combat tuberculosis effectively in Azerbaijan.
