World leaders caution against ‘full-scale war’ in Lebanon

World Leaders at UN Urge Israel to Avoid Full-Scale War in Lebanon

As world leaders gathered at the United Nations, calls for Israel to refrain from escalating the situation in Lebanon intensified. The UN General Assembly highlighted the urgent need for a diplomatic solution in the midst of escalating violence.

US President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of avoiding a full-scale war, stating that a diplomatic solution remains possible. However, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib expressed disappointment, noting the significant number of displaced individuals due to Israeli strikes.

With Lebanon on the brink, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged for de-escalation. Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon assured that Israel is not eager for a ground invasion.

Efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza have been unsuccessful, with Biden calling for an end to the conflict. Turkish President Erdogan accused Israel of dragging the region into war, while European Council President Charles Michel emphasized the need to protect civilians.

The international community faces a complex challenge, with UN inaction against Israel drawing criticism. As the situation unfolds, the world looks to diplomatic efforts to bring peace to the region.
