White House to provide 5M in military aid to Ukraine

The White House has approved a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $375 million, including air-to-ground weapons, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons. This assistance, authorized by President Joe Biden, aims to support Ukraine in its defense efforts. The package also includes ammunition for various systems, such as High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided missiles.

Notably, this aid marks the first time the U.S. is sending Ukraine the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW), a medium-range glide bomb. Additionally, President Biden has promised to announce further actions to bolster Ukraine’s military capabilities during President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the White House.

This aid package is part of ongoing support from the Biden administration, with this being the 66th tranche of security assistance provided to Ukraine since August 2021. The U.S. is expected to announce additional military aid worth over $8 billion during Zelensky’s visit. This support underscores the commitment of the U.S. to stand with Ukraine in the face of external threats.
