The State Special Transport Service of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry recently received a significant donation of humanitarian demining equipment from donors in Canada and the United States. Valued at $230,000, the equipment includes metal detectors, protective suits, specialized demining tools, and lighting devices to enhance the efficiency and safety of sappers in their crucial work.
Sappers who underwent training courses by MAT Kosovo were the recipients of this essential equipment, which was generously donated by the Canadian charitable foundation, Mriya Aid Org Inc., and the U.S.-based company, Safe Pro Group Inc. This contribution plays a vital role in ensuring security in the liberated territories of Ukraine and expediting the return to peaceful life in those areas.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that over 200,000 hectares of farmland have been inspected and cleared of mines since the beginning of 2024. With an estimated need for nearly 10,000 sappers to clear the land contaminated by Russian mines and unexploded ordnance, the support from international donors is crucial in this mission.
The efforts of these donors demonstrate a shared commitment to Ukraine’s cause and the safety of its citizens.
