Exciting news! Taoiseach Simon Harris has been invited to meet with US President Joe Biden in the White House next month. The two leaders will also participate in an event commemorating a century of strong ties between Ireland and the United States, with the US being the first country to recognize the Irish Free State in 1914.
A Government spokesperson shared that the event will also celebrate President Biden’s longstanding friendship with Ireland. Mr. Harris will have a busy schedule in Washington DC, including other engagements.
President Biden extended the invitation to the Taoiseach during the UN General Assembly in New York. Additionally, Mr. Harris recently met with Palestinian leaders to express Ireland’s support for Palestine’s right to statehood and the urgent need for a ceasefire and peace process.
