RSF Stops South Sudan’s Oil Flow

South Sudan and Sudan’s attempt to resume oil transport hits a snag as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) control key pumping stations, stalling progress. This development emphasizes the intricate relationship between politics and economics in the region.

Leaders from both nations met in Juba to form a joint committee to restart South Sudan’s oil flow through Sudan. However, the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF presents a significant challenge. The RSF’s control jeopardizes the security of workers and operations, while technical issues already disrupted South Sudan’s oil transport earlier this year.
