Rains to Impact Oman from Sunday: Precautionary Measures in Place
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in Oman has issued a statement regarding the suspension of classes in educational institutions across all governorates in the event of heavy rains. The main objective is to ensure the safety of students and staff during severe weather conditions.
A specific protocol has been established to determine when to suspend classes. The National Emergency Management Committee will play a crucial role in making and announcing these decisions, overseeing initial recovery efforts in collaboration with various agencies.
The statement outlines rainfall thresholds that will trigger different responses, with different thresholds for heavy and moderate rains depending on the governorate. The ministry emphasized that continuing classes during moderate rains is the responsibility of government units under its authority, aiming to prioritize students’ well-being while ensuring educational continuity.
In light of the upcoming heavy rains forecasted by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Directorate General of Meteorology from September 29 to October 1, precautionary measures are being taken to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety of the community.
Let’s stay safe and prepared for the upcoming weather conditions in Oman!
