Dr. David Oyedepo, the Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, is urging the Federal Government to prioritize the development of education modules to tackle the current challenges facing the country. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oyedepo emphasized the need for educational institutions in Nigeria to become solution centers by reconstructing their intellectual armor.
Oyedepo highlighted the importance of universities becoming like engineering workshops, programming and deprogramming the intellectual system of young people to lead productive lives. He stressed the significance of repositioning universities to provide intellectual solutions for government, commerce, and industry.
Emphasizing the need for creating “solutions centers,” Oyedepo asserted that this approach can address issues like unemployment and insecurity. He called for a shift towards industry-relevant course content to transition from a certificate-driven economy to a contribution-driven one.
Through evolving indigenous solutions, Oyedepo believes the nation can confront and solve its challenges, emphasizing the importance of taking proactive steps rather than waiting. It is time for Nigeria to harness the potential of its education institutions to drive innovation and progress.
