In a recent report by the “SimSim Citizen Participation” association, it was revealed that 63% of parliamentarians were absent during legislative sessions over the past year. The report highlighted the varying attendance rates, with the highest being 59.24% during the first reading of the 2024 Finance Bill and the lowest at 25.32% during a session in June 2024.
The report also noted a decline in legislative proposals submitted by parliamentary groups over the years, with only one out of 70 proposals being approved in the third year of the current term. The opposition outperformed the majority in proposing laws and amendments, with the Socialist Group leading in proposals.
Committees like Justice, Legislation, and Human Rights received the most proposals, while others like the Foreign Affairs committee received none. A total of 36 legislative texts were approved by the House of Representatives, with 20 passing unanimously.
