The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is doubling down on its efforts to ensure food security in the region. During a recent visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mrs. Ruth Olusanya, the NSCDC team, led by Assistant Commandant Nathaniel Koshi, pledged to support the government’s initiatives to boost agricultural production and guarantee food sufficiency.
Mrs. Olusanya commended the NSCDC for its proactive stakeholder engagement strategies, particularly highlighting the Bi-Monthly Public Relations Clinic. The upcoming third edition of the clinic, set for October 9, 2024, coincides with World Food Day, emphasising the importance of collective action in achieving food security.
Under Mrs. Olusanya’s leadership, the Ministry of Agriculture has launched various programs like the Five-Year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap to enhance food production in Lagos State. The NSCDC’s commitment to supporting these initiatives is a significant step towards achieving food security goals and ensuring access to affordable, quality food for Lagos residents.
