Ninth body found in flooded Ishikawa Prefecture

Tragedy struck Ishikawa Prefecture as severe floods claimed the lives of nine victims, with the recent recovery of a woman’s body near a river in Wajima city. Record-breaking rainfall of 50 centimeters within 48 hours devastated the region, leaving 367 residents isolated due to landslides and other obstacles. Emergency shelters provided refuge for over 600 people amidst the ongoing crisis.

Prior to this latest discovery, regional authorities had confirmed eight deaths linked to the flooding, further adding to the challenges faced by the local community. This natural disaster comes on the heels of a devastating magnitude-7.5 earthquake on New Year’s Day, compounding the region’s struggles with destructive forces of nature.

Despite Japan’s vulnerability to such calamities, the resilience of its people shines through as they navigate the aftermath of these tragic events and work towards rebuilding their lives and communities.
