Exciting Energy Projects Set to Transform Kyrgyzstan by 2029
Get ready, Kyrgyzstan is gearing up to launch nine major energy projects between 2025 and 2029, with investments totaling a whopping 31.677 billion soms (approximately $375.8 million). The country’s Finance Ministry recently revealed this ambitious forecast.
These projects will focus on the modernization and rehabilitation of small and large hydroelectric power plants, converter substations, and high-voltage transmission lines. The government aims to commission key facilities like the Toktogul Hydropower Plant, Kambaratinskaya HPP-2, and Uchkurghan HPP during this period.
Moreover, Kyrgyzstan is committed to sustainable development in the energy sector, with initiatives centered on harnessing renewable energy sources. Plans include constructing new small hydropower stations and conducting feasibility studies for large solar power plants.
To fund these game-changing projects, Kyrgyzstan is partnering with key financial institutions such as the World Bank, the Green Climate Fund, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
