Peruvian archaeologists recently discovered the fossilized remains of three Ice Age mastodons in the Chambara Valley, shedding new light on the presence of these animals in the region. Dating back between 11,000 and 12,000 years, the behemoths are believed to have migrated from North America to South America due to changing climate conditions.

The experts are hopeful for more discoveries as excavations continue in the area. The near-complete preservation of one mastodon specimen, with the anticipation of finding its skull and tusks, could have significant scientific importance.
