President Volodymyr Zelensky and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met in New York to discuss strengthening cooperation between their countries. The meeting, part of Zelensky’s attendance at the U.N. General Assembly’s High-Level Week, focused on trade, defense cooperation, and India’s involvement in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
The leaders also discussed collaboration in various sectors and agreed to work together on international platforms like the U.N. and G20. Modi expressed India’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while Zelensky thanked him for the clear support.
This meeting marks the third between Zelensky and Modi in the past year. In August, the two countries approved four cooperation agreements during Modi’s visit to Ukraine. India’s relations with Ukraine are significant given its historical alliance with Russia, especially following Modi’s visit to Moscow earlier this year.
