The Egmont Group has recently announced the suspension of Colombia from its network after allegations made by Colombian President Gustavo Petro regarding the previous government’s use of Pegasus software for spying.
According to reports, Petro shared confidential information about the alleged purchase and utilization of this Israeli spyware by the previous administration, leading to concerns about potential misuse for money laundering purposes.
As a result of these claims, the Egmont Group, an international organization focused on combating money laundering and terrorist financing, decided to suspend Colombia from its network until further investigations can be conducted.
